Power Outage Affecting Some in Glen Ellyn's Central Business District

Power is out in a small area of downtown Glen Ellyn and is expected to be restored later today.

 

A power outage in the Glen Ellyn central business district is affecting roughly 99, people, according to ComEd.

The power outage appears to be affecting those in the area north of Crescent Boulevard, south of Pennsylvania Avenue and between Main Street and Forest Avenue.

ComEd said crews are investigating the outage and ComEd expects the power to be restored by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Update from ComEd via text message at 3:35 pm: "Due to severe activity, estimated restore time is not yet known."
The online outage map says "Additional crews required, assessing damage".

I just took a look and it says 5:30 pm, so let's hope that is the case.

What is the cause? Severe activity means nothing. It is not like the heat of the summer with AC running constantly.

I think that "severe activity" refers to the amount of damage done, since that didn't come into play until that 3:35 text message. But that's just a guess. We'll probably never know for sure.

I have power! And I still haven't heard anything definite about a cause. The manager at Starbucks told me this morning that the automated system claimed "a line" was down, yet we had partial power all day.
