Police Blotter: Thief Needs a Sign, Public Indecency, Coins and Jewelry Burgled

Glen Ellyn Police Department reports, Jan. 27-Feb. 2

 

FRIDAY, FEB. 1

Public intoxication

Matthew M. Fuhrman, 37, of the 100 block of S. Milton Avenue, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Hill Avenue, Glen Ellyn Police said. He was charged with public intoxication.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Police said Jose R. Serafin, 25, of the 10900 block of Prescott, Roselle, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. at Roosevelt Road and Royal Glen Drive. He was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license, speed and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft

  • Police said someone entered the Smoker Shop, 434 Roosevelt Road, between 1 and 7:35 p.m., stealing various items valued at less than $300.
  • Between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. someone forcibly entered a residence in the 200 block of Milton Avenue, police said. The rear door of the home was forced open and miscellaneous jewelry and coins were stolen.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 30

Criminal damage

Someone reported a driver’s side window was broken on their vehicle in the 300 block of Larch Lane, police said. The incident took place between 9 p.m. Jan. 29 and 9 a.m. Jan. 30.

TUESDAY, JAN. 29

Criminal damage

A vacant business at 529 Roosevelt Road was found to have a large crack along the entire window, police reports said. The damage was found at 8:16 a.m.

MONDAY, JAN. 28

Theft

Someone stole a “No Outlet” sign from the intersection at Illinois Street and Hillcrest Avenue, police said. The sign was valued at less than $500.

SUNDAY, JAN. 27

Public indecency

Michael P. Dieterle, 20, of the 1300 block of East Elm Street, Wheaton, was arrested at 2:43 a.m. in the 300 block of Alder Lane, police said. He was charged with public intoxication, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and public indecency.

Other charges

Vance E. Lubben, 28, of the 4200 block of Saratoga Avenue, Downers Grove, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. at 339 Roosevelt Road, BP Amoco, police said. He was charged with failure to complete an alcohol awareness program.

Burglary

Police said someone forced their way in through a window at West Suburban Auto Body, 420 Roosevelt Road, between 1 and 6 p.m. A camera was stolen.

Theft

Someone stole a cell phone left on a counter at Batteries Plus, 481 Roosevelt Road. The incident took place at 3:25 p.m. and the phone was valued at more than $500.
