Glenbard West gymnast Alex Diab thanked his family and his coach for helping him to be the best he could be. The thanks were given Monday night during the Village of Glen Ellyn's board meeting. 

The Glen Ellyn Board of Trustees honored Diab during its board meeting Monday night. 

Village President Mark Pfefferman read a proclamation honoring Diab for his winning the 2012 IHSA boys gymnastics all-around competition.

Diab is now a sophomore at the school.

The procomation also recognized his coach Frank Novakowski for his dedication and service to the team.

Pfefferman congratulated Diab and wished him future success.
