Patch Roundup: Alleged Thief Batters Police Officer, 'Latin Kings' Bat-Beating Trial Update

In our top spot this week, two men, one suspected of stealing from a grocery store, got in a lot more trouble when they allegedly slammed a door into one cop and pushed another. Going with the theme of inept crime, check out one of the more interesting blotter items we've seen lately from Elmhurst, with a dealer attempting to sell oregano instead of pot (wasn't that a scene from The Office?)

LisleWitnesses: Stolen Dealership Van Ran Red Lights to Evade Police During Chase—Police are still looking for three suspects involved in the theft of a luxury cargo van that lead Lisle police on a high-speed chase through parts of Lisle and Downers Grove Wednesday morning.

Geneva—$3 Million Bail Set for Man Accused of 14 Counts of Sexual Assault—Geneva High School graduate Mike Jett faces 14 counts of sexual assault and $3 million bail, following what police say was an attack of a 48-year-old woman in Jett's Batavia home.

Batavia—Man Found Dead By River in Batavia Loved God, Bike Riding— The body found Monday along the banks of the Fox River was Brett Straight, a resident of Wayside Cross Ministries, who was setting his life in order.
