Park Boulevard Accident Sends Driver to Hospital Tuesday Afternoon
One person was injured in what appeared to be a rear-end accident Tuesday afternoon.
A car accident Tuesday afternoon left one car overturned on its side and its driver requiring medical attention, police said.
The accident took place at about 2:30 p.m. at Park Boulevard and Sheehan Avenue, according to Glen Ellyn Police Department Deputy Chief Bill Holmer.
Investigating officers from the Glen Ellyn Police Department believe the accident began with a possible rear-ended collision, Holmer said in a news release Tuesday afternoon. The driver that caused the accident veered off after making contact and the vehicle landed on its side, Holmer said.
The driver who veered off needed to be extricated from the vehicle. Firefighters from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. extricated the driver and Glen Ellyn paramedics transported them to the hospital. The other driver was uninjured.
Traffic was redirected for about 45 minutes while the vehicles were moved, but the road has since been cleared.
No citations were issued, but the investigation is ongoing, Holmer said.
