Officials Identify Glen Ellyn Woman Killed by Metra Train
The DuPage County Coroner's office will not release any additional information at this time.
56-year-old Glen Ellyn resident Lynn Netzel was struck and killed by an outbound Metra train in Glen Ellyn Monday around 1:30 p.m., according to the DuPage County Coroner's Office.
The coroner's office would not state if the incident was an accident or suicide. Initially, after the incident, the Glen Ellyn Police Department said it was a "death investigation."
One of the train's conductors believed the incident was a suicide. According to him, Netzel jumped in front of the train at the last minute "with her hands in the air."
The incident occurred just east of Glen Ellyn's Metra Train Station, along the tracks near the intersection of Crescent and Park Bouelvards. The train was stopped on the tracks for nearly two hours and caused other train delays.
