Given the demand it only makes sense that dealing becomes more local. A friend in Lombard told me the police raided a home in his neighborhood and confiscated millions in drugs. The new thing is dealers renting homes as distribution centers. Ask kids who attend West, they'll tell you there's entrances to avoid due to dealers. There was a pantry near the railroad station that kids used as a source for cigarettes and liquor. One of G.E. former "homeless" individuals was constantly buying for kids. Needless to say we can look at the gang influence as seen in some neighborhoods. So, an interesting story, but not too surprising.

What a Racket.... the demand for the stuff is so high, it is unbelievable... no wonder people sell it. Coca Cola used to put it in their soft drinks. Legalize it, Decriminalize it, tax it.... Counties and Municipalities should have the option of legalizing the stuff and having designated Bars, Taverns, Lounges where it is socially acceptable, and area's that don't want it should be allowed to not allow it but, I bet it would be like buying a pack of cigarettes at walgreens, or smoking at a bar. It's a waste of Tax Payer money to pay police to play cat and mouse with these people.. we know the government brings it in, and makes money off busting people for it...

I could agree if there were studies indicating taht as with liquor the majority could consume responsibly. Certainly we know what prohibition did to this nation, and the oragnized crime that came from that and remains. I'm not referrinf to the additive implications, have read enough that says tobacco is more additive but know tobacco does not have the same effects is motor skills et al as some drugs. That many might have a drink or two to relax, feel "happy" thayt reamin in some level of control. If it can be said for drugs, specifically by type would be one thing to say: legalize. But, if drugs are consumed for a greater "high" the result an inabilty to function even to an extent of legal limit, if the addictive issues are severe, cost, and crime are not the issues, but a segment of the public unable to function, requirong society to fulfill their addiction.

The issue here is not about legalizing drugs but rather the publics acceptance of them in our communities. Believe it or not studies will show that over 35% of Glen Ellyn high school students use or have used drugs of one kind or another at some point. Face it the war on drugs has been lost. And from what I can see the people of quaint little suburban towns would rather sweep the issues under the rugs than face the issues of drugs in there communities.

Its amazing to me in this economy that people even feel they have money for a habit. Even cigarettes when you need to buy gas or milk for the kids and a person chooses a very expensive white powder that can ultimately kill you if you get a bad batch. Ever hear of a heart attack? I think it should still be illegal.
