Yesterday morning I was stopped at that intersection at about 6:53 am and I saw a man that looked distressed standing at the corner. I even looked back at him in my rearview mirror because it was troubling.
I wonder if it was the same person... It made me so sad when I read this.

Your statement reminds me of all the people that daily walk past all the homeless people with their busy lives and rarely look back. We need to stop from our busy lives and see if we can lend a hand. Some day THAT COULD BE YOU ! !

Coincidentally there was a shooting at CVS yesterday morning. A man died. There are gangs in Wheaton. No story would be nice if it meant law enforcement's better judgment. But I can't get over the coincidence.

I accept section 8 vouchers and they are better renters than those who live paycheck to paycheck. Speak about what you know not what you think.

This is tragic story and although I do not know this person, my heart goes out to him and his family for his suffering and what they are now suffering. Jim - your assumption about Section 8 renters is based on ignorance. My mom is a Caucasian, elderly, Section 8 renter. She is a good, caring, honest woman who worked hard all of her life. I also work with an African American woman who rents a Section 8 home in Wheaton. She is employed, but at a low salary. She and her family are good, hard working people who need help with housing. Your comment is offensive.

As I recall Jesus hung out with people who did not fit into the "nice community" image. Maybe we should take a lesson from Him.

JIM: I'm not truly sure what small world you live in, but there are gangs in almost every single town/city/community in this state. Section 8 has nothing to do with it.
A man took his own life, for reasons we will never know. Focus on that tragedy and do not speculate and insult based on your opinions. Prayers to his family & friends.

Thank you to Officer Mouhelis for clearing up the shooting rumor. And yes, Joe Chicago, there are gangs in Wheaton as there are in most every town. But how often do you hear about gang activity here? Very seldom, thanks to our police and their presence around our community. With much of our town without electricity for multiple days, did gangs of looters or gangs with guns take over our city? Of course NOT! Jim Court is dreaming if he thinks Section 8 renters are all gang bangers. Most are single parents trying to keep a roof over their children's heads. Thanks to all who keep peace in our city and their incredible efforts. Peace.

Jim, I to accept Section 8 vouchers and also find they are generally more stable tenants then paycheck to paycheck renters. Some of my sect 8 tenants are elderly and living on only social security, others are single moms with children, most have been with us for years. Dont make such a general statement without facts. Sounds like what your really saying is you dont want to live with poor people. Easy fix, move to Kenilworth.

You folks are correct and the truth is there is good and bad in everything. All race, gender, occupation, ect..... it's part of the deal we get in order to participate in the game of life. The issue certainly is not section 8 folks being gang bangers, In most cases it's fathers bailing on their son's that fuels gangs. I've raised 3 boys pay check to pay check, spent all my free time with them and they all know they have one person that will always be in there corner. The end result is 3 good men in there early 20's that will help not hurt other people. You certainly did get a reaction from people Jim.

This story is not about Section 8 vouchers. A person lost their life at their own hands.
Keep him/her in your prayers.
