For more than 105 years, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company has served residents of Glen Ellyn and the Glen Ellyn Fire Protection District. The company relies upon grants, donations, support from the village and its residents to continue to provide services both day and night.
Monday night, the fire company, which includes 65 volunteer firefighters, received a $2,000 grant to help continue its efforts at protecting and serving the community, according to a news release from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company. FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, provided the grant to the fire company.
Chief Peter Campbell accepted the check during a presentation ceremony held at Station No. 1. Jim Timmerman presented the check on behalf of the FM Global.
The funds are to be used to help provide updated technology for the Fire Company’s fire prevention and inspection programs, according to the news release.
