Holiday 2012: Recycle Lights, Phones, Coats; Donate New Toys

Have items you no longer need? A number of holiday collections are underway and items can be easily donated in one location. Find out more!

Buying a new winter jacket? Have holiday lights that no longer work? Or, did Santa already bring you a new cellphone?

If you have items you’d like to toss but aren’t sure what to do with them, a number of collections are taking place in town and items can be dropped off right at the Village of Glen Ellyn’s Civic Center.

One collection seeking new items and not used ones is Toys for Tots. New, unwrapped toys are being sought for children around the area.

Cell phones piling up because you have the newest and best in technology? Drop off used cells and help Family Shelter Services. The phones will be disposed of and proceeds will go directly to the nonprofit.

Have old holiday lights that no longer work or maybe you switched colors or to LED lights. Whatever the reason, if you have lights not worth hanging this year, they can be recycled. Recycled holiday lights are being accepted until Feb. 18, 2013. Extension cords are all being accepted.

All of the items may be dropped off at the Civic Center. According to the Village of Glen Ellyn the collection boxes are located on the first floor of the Civic Center, directly across from the cashier’s window.
