Glen Ellyn Shreds Tons of Documents

Residents lined up to drop off documents at the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce's shred event.

More than 5 tons of documents were safely disposed of last weekend during a Community Shredding Event. The event, held Saturday brought residents out in droves and more than 11,000 pounds of documents were collected, according to the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce.

"We had a steady stream of cars all morning, with residents thanking us for providing this valuable service," said Georgia Koch, the chamber's executive director.  "Our thanks to our partners, Community Bank Wheaton/Glen Ellyn and the Glen Ellyn Police Department for making this possible."

In addition to the shredding, the Lions Club collected eyeglasses and Run Today gathered used athletic shoes for the Winged Food Foundation.
