Glen Ellyn Plans to Add More Metra Parking

A new downtown parking lot could be coming soon for commuters.

Glen Ellyn Metra commuters may have more parking options since village trustees approved the purchase of a vacant lot that hugs the Prairie Path, located just west of Citibank, according to Triblocal

Townhouses were supposed to line what is now an empty lot, according to the Daily Herald. The Herald reports the property went into foreclosure before the townhouses could be built and the village is taking this opportunity to alleviate Metra-related parking congestion and demand for more spots.

If all goes according to plan, the parking lot will have 55 spaces, each $280 per year, reports Triblocal. According to the Daily Herald, the purchase and construction on the empty lot is expected to cost the village approximately $270,000; a lower price due to grant monies.

And ... still no more parking spots to accommodate all the restaurants/businesses on that side of the tracks, correct? Doesn't sound like it.
