The Community Awards Breakfast will be held on March 16 at 7:30 a.m.
Community Awards nominations are underway. Residents are encouraged to submit the names of residents, nonprofits and businesses for consideration in this year’s award.
The awards have been presented since 1963 to recognize outstanding contributions to the community. Nominations will be accepted until March 11 and anyone may make a nomination.
“The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and the Village Fair Committee have joined together to present the Community Awards again this year,” said Mike Formento, executive director of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce.
To be eligible for an award, the nominee must be a resident of Glen Ellyn or the organization must be active in Glen Ellyn. In addition, the individual or organization must have been involved in working on or participating in projects that directly benefited Glen Ellyn, according to the chamber. Nominees would have volunteered time, energy, and devotion to significantly improving the quality of life in Glen Ellyn.
The awards are:
1. Citizen of the Year
2. Business of the Year
3. Not For Profit Organization of the Year
4. Senior Citizen of the Year
The awards ceremony will be held on March 16. During the program awards will also be handed out to the Outstanding Firefighter, Police Office and Educator.
