Glen Ellyn Man Sentenced to Four Years in Baseball Bat Beating

Joseph A. Martinez, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery last week in DuPage County Court.

 

A Glen Ellyn man was sentenced to four-years in prison for beating a neighbor with a baseball bat earlier this year.

Joseph A. Martinez, 40, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon last week, according to a story in the Daily Herald.  DuPage County Judge Daniel Guerin sentenced Martinez to four years in prison. 

On the evening of April 24, Martinez was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery after Glen Ellyn Police responded to a call of two men fighting in the 300 block of Duane Street. Police found the 39-year-old victim was "bruised and bleeding from the head," Glen Ellyn Patch reported

The Daily Herald reported prosecutors said the victim suffered severe injuries and required 15 staples to close the head wound.
