Glen Art Theatre to Screen Holiday Classics

For yet another year, the Glen Art Theatre will be screening holiday classics free of charge.

For yet another year, the Glen Art Theatre located in downtown Glen Ellyn will be doing special screenings of holiday themed movies. Working in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce, the theatre opens it's doors early and screens holiday favorites for community members to enjoy.

"It's a really nice break when you're shopping, and running errands" said Renee Barker at the Chamber of Commerce. "It's something that the family can do together and for some kids, it's there first movie theater experience."

Residents who went to see the holiday movies last year, will notice that they haven't changed this year. Barker said in years past the Chamber would offer suggestions for which movies would screen, but this year the Glen Art Theatre picked its own.

The films will screen from Nov. 26 through Dec. 18, and will feature such holiday classics as A Christmas Story (one of this writers all time favorites), The Santa Clause, The Polar Express (based on one of this writers all time favorite winter books), Home Alone and Elf.

The best part is that all the movies are free to the public and are at a time when the whole family can go and catch a movie and some popcorn. The first—A Christmas story—débuts this Friday at 10:30 a.m. The rest of the movie screenings show on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.

"This is really a gift the community from the theatre. They open early and host these movies so families can come out and do something together," Barker said.

What better way to keep off the winter chill than watching a holiday classic on the big screen?
