Dillard Endorsed by U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren
The freshman representative who once worked alongside Dillard in the state senate announced his endorsement in a release Wednesday morning.
U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.) has endorsed State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) in his 24th Senate District Republican Primary race against State Rep. Chris Nybo (R-Lombard).
Hultgren, a Wheaton native and current Winfield resident who was first elected to represent Illinois' 14th Congressional District in 2010, said he supports Dillard based on his first-hand knowledge of the incumbent.
"I had the opportunity to work closely with Senator Dillard in Springfield when I served as your Illinois State Senator," Hultgren said in a release Wednesday morning. "Kirk distinguishes himself from other General Assembly members with his skilled leadership qualities combined with his gift of working collaboratively with others."
Hultgren also said Dillard has the economic-policy experience needed to help solve Illinois' fiscal problems.
"We must reform our pension system, repeal the 67 percent income tax hike, and control the excessive spending, borrowing and taxing policies of the current administration if we are to have any hope of developing realistic solutions," Hultgren said. "It is critical to all residents to have an experienced and respected Senator in Springfield developing clear policy objectives."
Hultgren's endorsement came two days after fellow U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert (R-Ill.) announced her support for Dillard.
The freshman representative Hultgren is running for reelection in his 14th District this year, but is unopposed in the Republican primary.
