Chamber Announces Lineup for Jazz in Glen Ellyn

Mark your calendars for the July 14 event.

The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce announced the lineup for the new Jazz in Glen Ellyn event. The following artists will take to the stage Saturday, July 14:

The free event is located along Main Street between Crescent Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue. Local vendors will serve food, beer and wine from 2:30-9:30 p.m. Coolers are not allowed into the festival, and alcoholic beverages must be purchased on-site.

This is the Chamber's first Jazz in Glen Ellyn event without its previous co-sponsors. Georgia Koch, executive director of the chamber, previously told Patch that nothing is going to change, and chamber members promise to maintain the great event.

This will be the sixth jazz event in Glen Ellyn. Previously, the event was co-sponsored with College of DuPage's WDCB Radio, McAninch Arts Center, White Space Design and Hursthouse Landscaping. In April, it was announced that the chamber would be the sole sponsor hosting the event. It's unclear what caused the split but Koch told Patch it was not about raising money for the chamber.

I was looking forward to the announcement of the artists and I'm even more excited now after seeing the quality of the lineup. It's going to be a fun day for all.

My hat is off to Georgia. Paul Wertico alone would be worth the trip to G.E. His band was a regular at the Green Mill and his work with Pat Metheny is obviously legendary. Used to be...or still is...a music prof at Northwestern. It has been my opinion that Georgia was left holding an empty bag and told to fill it. She seems to have done a good job.
