Barone's Suffers Minor Damage in Early Morning Fire

A sprinkler system extinguished the fire, which broke out early Wednesday, according to an official.

The cause of a small kitchen fire at Barone’s Pizza of Glen Ellyn is being investigated after a fire early Wednesday.

The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. responded to a call at 4:40 a.m. at the restaurant, located at 475 Pennsylvania Ave., for a possible fire sprinkler activation, said Craig Eldridge, public information officer for the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co.

Crews discovered that a small kitchen fire had activated the sprinklers, which in turn extinguished the fire, he said. The fire company along with Barone’s management worked to remove as much of the water as possible from the sprinkler system.

The damage to the business was minimal and the fire’s cause is currently being investigated, Eldridge said. There were no injuries.
