Shoppers Come from Near and Far to Purchase Lilac Bushes at the Garden Club Sale

The weather was beautiful for all three days of the Lombard Garden Club Lilac Bush Sale. Thursday afternoon, May 10, out-of-towners mingled with local residents as they concentrated on reading the descriptions of the many different kinds of lilacs offered for sale. Some Huntley, Illinois residents were purchasing bushes as well as shoppers from Rolling Meadows. Wheaton was well represented , as was Winfield and Elmhurst. The 2012 Lilac Sale was declared a success by Ways and Means co-chairmen, Joey Preins and Darlene Bartt. Monies raised from the sale will be used for projects that beautify Lombard historic sites, civic buildings, the Prairie at Terrace View Park, scholarship for area high schools, and other needs that are suggested through the Village and Park District.
