OneChurch Precision Shopping Brigade has New Title Same Goal
For many years, Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest Avenue, in downtown Glen Ellyn has sponsored and participated in the Precision Shopping Cart Brigade for the Glen Ellyn 4th of July Parade. Their purpose and goal is to collect as many non -perishable grocery items to stock the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry’s shelves. Summer donations are slow for the Pantry and the 4th of July Drill Team has been a major success story for donations of groceries. Since the GE Food Pantry is located in Grace Church, they have stepped up to lead the brigade. This year’s chairman is Dominic Logalbo and he has announced a new title for the marchers. OneChurch Precision Shopping Brigade is the new name for the marchers reflecting the OneChurch partnership that includes the following Glen Ellyn churches: St. Barnabas Episcopal, Faith Lutheran, Grace Lutheran, St. Luke’s Lutheran and St. Mark’s Episcopal.
OneChurch Shopping Cart Captain, Dominic Logalbo announced, “There are plenty of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate. Adults can be Volunteer Coordinator for their church, all ages can distribute paper bags to homes along the parade route with a request for donations, decorate shopping carts before the parade, march with the Brigade, shuttle donations from the Brigade carts to the support truck during the parade, drive a support truck, unload donations into the Food Pantry after the parade, bring non-perishable groceries to the parade for donations, and finally, pray for good weather.” To volunteer for this 4th of July event, contact the Brigade Coordinator at onechurchparadeinfo@gmail.com.
