Presented by Glen Ellyn Wheaton Community Associate Event Planner, Laura Wilson, fifty members of the Art Associates experienced a tour in Chicago they will long remember.  Not many of the tour goers knew the term “Outsider Art.”  That describes folk artists and multi media artists who have had no formal art educatioin.  The House of Blues Restaurant and Night Club’s wall, ceilings, stairways, and nooks are covered with outsider art.  Every imaginable form of this art work is displayed. 
    After lunch at the House of Blues, the travel bus drove the Art Associates to the Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art.  This not-for-profit organization, founded in 1991was
another example of an interesting and educational experience that the Glen Ellyn Wheaton Community Associates of the Art Institute would have never participated in unless they maintained a membership in this group.  Katie Damitz and Paula Kavanaugh are the membership chairman and anyone in DuPage County who is interested in joining their ranks can contact the membership co-chairmen at 630-653-5659 or 630-858-0587.  The end of the year Spring Luncheon is Wednesday, May 16 at the Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn.  Guests are welcome.
