Beth Powers Appointed to Fill Board Vacancy in School District 89
Glen Ellyn resident Beth Powers was sworn into office Monday as the newest member of the Board of Education for Community Consolidated School District 89.
Powers, who has lived in Glen Ellyn for eight years, was appointed to serve the remainder of the unexpired Board term of Gene Glaudell, who resigned in May for work-related reasons.
“I’m very interested in the educational system for the students in this area,” said Powers. “I look forward to being a part of the future decisions that guide the District.”
Powers served from 2010-2012 as the Co-President of the Park View Parent Teacher Council (PTC) and is a former member of the District’s Community Finance Committee. She is the mother of two boys who will both attend Glen Crest Middle School next year.
According to Board of Education President Lori Gaspar, Powers stood out among a very talented pool of applicants for the appointment. “Beth has been a valuable District volunteer for many years, and her service on both the PTC and on the Community Finance Committee will allow her to hit the ground running as a board member,” she said.
Power’s term will expire in April of 2013, and at that time the position will be filled in the Primary Election.
